Coven Sobriquet: Bleeding Dawn
The reigning coven of Kronhavn, Antamont's capital

Antamont
Coven Lore

The Antamont Coven was formally established in 642(TG). The Coven Sanctum, once named Castle Draalskoven, is located within Kronhavn Forest, several miles north of Søndhallow, the capital of Antamont. As one of the oldest and most enduring vampire institutions in the region, the coven was founded by Eske Jürgensen, one of the original four vampires turned in 588(TG) by the Creator. Formerly employed as a cipher-breaker and archival specialist within the Creator’s inner circle, Jürgensen assumed the role of Coven Master following the cessation of his duties and the stabilization of the early vampire progeny.

At the time of its founding, Antamont’s sociopolitical climate was openly hostile to non-human entities. Vampires were widely regarded as heretical abominations, accused of plague-bearing, soul-theft, and corrupting divine order. The post-reform clergy, aligned with the Flame orthodoxy, intensified its campaigns against non-human entities during the mid-7th century, coinciding with a surge in rural purges, witch trials, and theological enforcement. Several early members of the Antamont Coven were executed during this period, prompting the remaining leadership to adopt a posture of strategic invisibility.

Rather than respond with violence, Coven Master Eske enacted a policy of subtle influence and bureaucratic infiltration. Utilizing his background in codework and information management, he and Vice Matron Sidsel, his second, initiated a decades-long operation of misinformation, elite correspondence, and asset placement. This effort eventually culminated in the Silent Accord, an unwritten agreement observed by key figures in the capital: so long as the coven maintained discretion, regulated its own kind, and avoided direct interference in religious or noble affairs, it would not be actively hunted.

By the early 8th century, the coven’s discreet interventions in regional stability, including the elimination of predatory cults, the protection of key trade routes, and the exposure of treasonous activity, began to earn it the private respect of select administrative circles. It was during this period that Helvig, a senior vampire within the coven and later titled Night Steward (third in command), began working directly with local administrators in the town of Ebelholt, situated just northeast of Søndhallow.

The incident that precipitated her rise involved a series of disappearances and livestock mutilations believed to be the work of witches or beasts. The coven quietly intervened, identifying the source as a rogue ethereal hybrid abandoned from an older Arcana experiment. Helvig coordinated the resolution discreetly, and the issue was closed without public alarm. Impressed by her efficiency, discipline, and understanding of both human and non-human affairs, the town’s council later nominated her as a candidate for mayoral appointment.

Despite initial resistance from conservative figures, Helvig’s term as mayor [703(TG)–719(TG)] brought notable improvements in infrastructure, arcane regulation, and rural protection programs. Her administrative performance, coupled with careful image management and moderate civic policy, led to her gradual elevation into regional governance. By the early 9th century, she was appointed to a low-tier ministerial advisory role in Søndhallow, where she has since continued to serve, acting as an informal liaison between the human government and the Antamont Coven.

This unique positioning has made Helvig a central figure in the modern soft normalization of vampire presence within Antamont’s political framework. While open recognition remains politically unviable due to lingering religious influence, her participation in governance has facilitated smoother conflict resolution, prevented multiple supernatural incidents from escalating, and led to the implementation of early inter-species policy drafts, albeit unofficial.

Today, the Antamont Coven functions as a para-political entity, possessing territorial sovereignty over Castle Draalskoven and operational autonomy in non-human matters. While its members remain unacknowledged in public law, private correspondence, trade networks, and high-level diplomatic circles frequently involve coven intermediaries. The Silent Accord, while never codified, remains in effect.

Eske Jürgensen continues to serve as Coven Master, maintaining a reputation for strategic patience and intellectual austerity. Helvig, as Night Steward and embedded governmental advisor, serves as the coven’s face in human political arenas. Her role is considered essential to the current equilibrium between Antamont’s human institutions and its most influential non-human presence.

Coven Master: Eske Jürgensen (m)

Turned: in 588(TG) when he was 42
From: Antamont
Gifts: Skyborne, Day Walker

Human Life: Eske was a royal scribe and cipher-breaker, respected for his sharp mind and unnerving ability to extract order from chaos. When mutilated nobles began turning up across Søndhallow—each carved with strange symbols and drained of blood—he was assigned to investigate. Along the way, he crossed paths with a foreign noble of icy composure and unclear origin, a man who claimed to be hunting the same cult for reasons of his own (Alucard). Eske, sensing a deeper intelligence in the stranger, invited him to join the investigation. Together, they followed blood-streaked trails and half-burned texts through abandoned keeps and frozen woods, until they finally unearthed a hidden cult stronghold. The battle was brutal. Eske held his ground—but he was only human. When a blade caught his side and dragged him to death’s edge, the stranger intervened, not just to save him, but to offer him something far rarer. Immortality. Eske accepted and was turned alongside Attila and Crowell
