CHAPTER ONE - HUNTER'S MOON
2082 words
Moonlight. Silver spread across the gloomy, resting city, shining off the glass walls and puddles of rainwater. Midnight crept closer, and as sleep quietened the night, a whisp of white sleeked through a narrow alley.
Silently, the lone ashen wolf navigated the city’s darkest, smallest cracks. It left no hint of a trail, its ice-white eyes focused on what lay ahead. Alleys, gutters, and dead-still streets—it raced across the deserted roads, avoiding the light.
CHAPTER TWO - THE PACK
2037 words
Luan woke to the white of his room, the morning alarms blaring through the hallway. As the red light above his single-windowed door flashed, he sat up in his bed, but he gripped his blanket before it could reveal his chest.
With his amber eyes, he stared over at his door. He knew he had only a few minutes before it would open, so he climbed out of bed, a shiver of cold slithering through his body as his bare feet touched the floor.
CHAPTER THREE - SECTOR ONE-THREE
1836 words
Chaos had ensnared sector one-three. The towering metal walls of the compound were torn wide-open; gunshots and metallic explosions enthralled the morning air, and as creatures fought against soldiers, the once green grass quickly adorned a blanket of crimson.
From the windows of the V-22 Osprey, Luan and his pack stared down at the battle. His amber eyes widened as the aircraft flew overhead, approaching the landing zone. He could see monstrous bears and machine-mounted lizards, hundreds of gun-wielding humans, armoured vehicles, and deep, smoking craters.
